I decided to recommend these delicious treats since I’m eating them right now for breakfast! It all started when I was watching the Food Network. The Barefoot Contessa comes on and the episode is about super delicious recipes she contributed to Food Network Magazine. Then, there they were: Maple Oatmeal Scones– without raisins! In my experience, maple scones are usually made with raisins. Raisins are NOT my favorite. Imagine my joy as I watched the episode. I soaked it in and couldn’t wait to make a batch of those babies myself! A link to her recipe is here. I made the recipe for the first time many months ago and my husband (Matthew) and I loved them. He did ask how much maple syrup went into the recipe and asked if I could put more in it next time.
I made the scones again a month or two later and doubled the maple syrup from 1/2 cup to an entire full cup. Best decision ever. If you do try this recipe and you like your scones a tad bit sweeter, I do recommend upping the maple syrup a little bit. I think next time, I might experiment even more and substitute brown sugar for the white sugar!
